Strengthen resilience to climate change
The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) has launched a training programme on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction in West African agriculture. The programme aims to strengthen the capacity of the national technical services responsible for addressing risks related to natural disasters and climate change through early warning systems and weather forecasts. The project will be implemented in the 17 member countries of ECOWAS and CILSS with a budget of EUR 820 000, financed by the Italian government, and with the support of several partners including the WMO regional offices -- the Institute of Biometeorology at the Italian Research Council and the AGRHYMET Regional Centre. The programme will consolidate a network of the region’s scientific and technical institutions and will promote the exchange of technology and skills.
